The Duck is broken

The Ducks defeat the Tigers

The CSB NICL team (which has become affectionally known as the CSB Ducks due to the 0 in the wins column!) has taken until the penultimate match of the season, but the team has broken through for a maiden win in the National Indoor Cricket League.

Perhaps the boys are better performers in front of the camera as fortuitously it was a game we arranged to take some footage of for our You Tube Channel – you watch it here.

After a long lay-off due to the National Championships in Toowoomba (Jordan Hesline, Jai Lemire, Josh Sugden, Mark Reiley and Benji Gore all making under age representative side for Victoria), the progress made by the team paid off as the team split the skins two apiece and finished 20 runs to the better of the Monash Tigers.

Captain Coach Ian Leach top scoring with 20 runs, 2 wickets and an economy rate of 1.0 from his blowing stint. The turning point being a team double hat trick in Aravin Suresh’s second over setting back the Tigers 20 runs in the process.

In the earlier match against the fancied Bobo’s Diner Sharks the team took a skin and it was only the fourth skin in both batting and bowling that resulted in the side falling 31 runs short.
It’s taken a while but the tide has turned, unfortunately for the team there is only a week to go, but it sets the side up for next season and we look forward to further expanding the CSB Indoor strategy.
