CSB falls short against Monash Tigers


Fielding a youthful side on Sunday, Cricket Southern Bayside fell short in their chase against Monash Tigers by 26 runs.

Bowling first the team conceded 22 runs in the first skin before applying the breaks to restrict the Tigers to just 5 runs in the second skin. However, scores of 21 and 25 in the 3rd and 4th lifted the Tigers total to 73.

Jordan Hesline was the pick of the CSB bowlers with 3 wickets for -7 runs.

In reply, CSB lost the 1st skin making 11 runs but pulled themselves back into the contest by taking the 2nd skin to see them just 5 runs behind the Tigers score. however a number of run outs strangled CSB chances of winning and ended up falling short in the chance to finish on 47 runs.

Reilly Mark & Aiden Bond were the top scorers with 14 runs each in an improved performance which should give some confidence to the group moving forward.

CSB have a double-header this Friday (11 May) against Croydon Raiders & Bobo’s Diner Sharks at Springvale Indoor Centre (Springvale Road).
